How does one woman wearing a pink wig and fairy wings help to change the image of a Hudson Valley city?
Listen to "The Ferry Godmother".
When Aquanetta Wright moved to Newburgh, New York in 1998, she loved her new home, but she had one concern. Newburgh had an image problem.
The Ferry Godmother persona was born when Aquenetta began greeting commuters boarding the Newburgh Beacon ferry. Once she got their attention, she would distribute information about important issues facing the city. But Aquanetta wanted to do something on a grander scale and in 2007 Ferry Godmother Productions presented the first free Newburgh Jazz series on the Newburg waterfront.
